AGRICULTURE & ART
Over 200 years ago Thomas Jefferson and his contemporaries based their democratic ideals on the independence and self-sufficiency of the yeoman farmer.  Today only a handful of people exist as family farmers in the Jeffersonian tradition.

Thousands of small farmers risk everything to keep pace with perpetual changes.  Survival often rests precariously on the success or failure of one crop.  The growth of technology sweeps the farms like a prairie fire that's out of control. Survivors today know it is AGRIBUSINESS, NOT AGRICULTURE.

LLANO ESTACADO MURAL makes a significant statement about the people who created a garden from the American Desert region of the Texas High Plains.  The mural is oil painted on canvas.  It stands ten feet high by forty feet in length.  The circle of orientation showcases historical portraits of individuals who impacted the development of the region.  Ethnic diversity and occupations are highlighted. It was painted by Joe D. Taylor in 1986.
